Wine merchant of the year “Special prize of the jury”

Wine Merchant of the Year 2024 in the “Special Jury Prize” category is
Michael Glück – REWE Glück, Rengsdorf, Michaels Weinwelt.

Is it okay to ask? Do you know Rengsdorf? Probably very few people will be able to tell where Rengsdorf is right away. On the western edge of the Westerwald Nature Park not far from Neuwied and Koblenz, a few kilometers from the Rhine as the crow flies.

Michael Glück has been running an independent Rewe store there since 1984 and the people of Rengsdorf can consider themselves lucky in the truest sense of the word that he runs a store there that is trimmed for freshness, service, the best presentation, an unusual range and a great deal of personal commitment.

The wine department plays an important role, accounting for less than 5 percent of the product range of over 20,000 items and a sales share of around 7 percent. A great achievement. The wine department is called Michael’s Weinwelt and is run jointly by sommelier Steffen Mainz and owner Michael Glück with a great deal of passion.

“In tune with the times, wide range, high quality, monthly wines, home delivery with wine cab, commission. Personal contacts with many winegrowers and established as a local specialist wine merchant, plus affordable – anyone can buy expensive wines,” is how Michael Glück and Steffen Mainz describe their wine business.
It has long been a concern of mine to honor so much commitment and wine expertise, which is rarely found in rural areas, with a special prize from the jury as Wine Merchant of the Year.

We are delighted to present Michael Glück and his son Lukas Glück, who will take over the company from his father this year, with the jury’s special prize for their commitment to the wine sector.
